My mom got me a donut pan for Christmas, and I am just getting around to using it. I have been making this recipe since I was a kid, which means they really are easy and delicious. Not having my handy-dandy donut pan back then, I always made them into muffins, thus dubbing them “Muffins that Taste Like Donuts.” Well cheesy name no more, because they just got an upgrade! A spiced cake covered in a cinnamon and sugar coating, these just scream for a good cup of coffee to be dunked in.
These are sooo good, and the best thing is that they are baked, not fried, so you can eat two. Plus they take less than hour to make from scratch. Not that I don’t love a good donut shop treat once in a while, but maybe stay home this Sunday and make these for brunch instead. Trust me, they are worth it!
**If you don’t have a donut or bagel pan, they turn out just fine in muffin tins. Just increase the baking time to 20 – 25 minutes. No need for a wrapper either, just grease the pan and they will pop right out!
